April 15, M.A.C. officially opens the doors to its new Times Square flagship. The 1700-square-foot space, at Broadway and 46th Street, shares a block with other new neighborhood comers like the Disney store and Forever 21.
M.A.C. is no stranger to drama, but the new store sounds particularly flashy. On the outside, LED tiles will compete with the rest of Times Square's electronic signage. The tech theme continues inside, where makeup centers will be surrounded by LED screens and touch-screen computers (a Times Square exclusive) will help shoppers find what they're looking for. M.A.C anticipates that some 500 customers will come through the store each day, so they've hired 60 makeup artists, making the staff almost four times the size of an average M.A.C. boutique.
